Cancellations Due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Low Literacy to GED Educational Services

These services are provided by our educational partners, the Orleans Parish Public Schools’ Alternative Learning Institute (South White Street Female Facility, juveniles held as adults, House of Detention, and Orleans Parish Prison)

and Delgado Community College Adult Basic Education (Conchetta and the Warren McDaniels Work Release Center). Participants are all ages and classifications. DOC inmates receive “good time”, or time off sentencing or parole, for participation.

How Do I Join? If you are currently incarcerated: Adults who are interested in the program should sign up with the liaison deputy or turn in a Request for Service. If no space is available at the time of the request, the request will be placed on a waiting list. Youth aged 18 and under are automatically enrolled in high school by the Alternative Learning Institute. If you are not currently incarcerated and are interested in adult education services, further information is available at the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans at or at 504-864-7077.
